A family trade with real history behind it
Roof problems rarely wait for a convenient moment, and that's exactly why we keep our approach practical, steady, and clear from the start. Ranson Roofing & Building Ltd comes from a family line of roofers, and we still carry that hard-won knowledge into every job we take on across Durham, North Yorkshire and the wider North East.

As experienced local roofers, we work with homeowners and businesses in areas including Harrogate, Ripon, Richmond, Wynyard and Newcastle, providing a wide range of roofing services from traditional slating and tiling to roof repairs and more modern roofing systems.
We've grown from traditional roofing into wider building work because customers kept asking for one team that could handle the job properly. Whether you're looking for a local roofing company for repairs, a roofing contractor for a larger project, or experienced roofers for ongoing work, our team can help.

Our reviews
The roof was replaced with minimal disruption. We were really happy with the communication from Daniel and the team. The team worked quickly through the job and left the area really tidy afterwards. We would not hesitate to use Ranson Roofing and Building again.
Professional, hard-working and would recommend. Remedial work was completed on our property's 4 dormers, including identifying unforeseen issues and rectifying them to a high standard.
What sets us apart
From repairs to major builds
Handling everything from minor repairs to complete building and renovation projects.
Traditional and modern methods
Combining time-tested craftsmanship with modern techniques for lasting, reliable results.
No job too small
Every project receives the same care, attention, and professional workmanship throughout.
More than just a roofer
Your property can need more than one fix, and chasing separate trades soon becomes a headache. We take on roofing, heritage repairs, extensions, plumbing, heating, electrical work and bespoke joinery, so the whole job keeps moving without the usual stop-start nonsense.
Ranson Roofing & Building Ltd also works on listed buildings, using traditional materials and methods where they matter most. In Durham, that gives you one experienced team for everything from a leaking flat roof to a carefully planned alteration.
